Being a Wedding photographer is more difficult than you think. Countless hours behind a computer, editing, networking, trying to understand social media marketing, and many other things that I do not care to get into. Most of my days are 18-20 hours. Between trying to take care of myself mentally and physically, going to work which I sit at a desk behind a computer then to commute home, get some dinner, spend some time with loved ones then back at it on my personal computer. More editing while listing to "photography marketing" working on photography specials, trying to sit down with clients and future clients. Its never ending, people do not understand the amount of work that goes behind all this and it can be discouraging and some days I just want to give up. Yet this is the only thing I am good at. I hate shooting digital even with the "mastin labs" presets. Most of you reading this, if any of you read this don't know what that is, but do I ever wish I could shoot film all the time and afford if.
So of course when Ashley said her good friend was in Sacramento California and that he had a day off we made plans to go see him. I wasn't happy about sitting in a care for 6 hours after sitting at a desk at work for 8 hours, but hey "you only live once" right? After work we packed the car, and were off on our way to visit Uncle Ben. Make sure to click photographs below, they move!
It had been some time since Lucy had seen uncle Ben. Its unique to see how a 5 year old tries to put everything together in their head, to take what they have been told, mix it all up to try to put it all together like puzzle pieces and see what the outcome is. Uncle Ben showed us what he does for work. After that we were off to Old Town Sacramento.
All in all it was a great trip. I was able to stay off my phone for the most part and I did not open my computer for a solid two days. Photographing for myself always brings me back to what I am, what centers me you could say.
